Tahoe City & The West Shore
Many thousands of years ago the waters of Lake Tahoe extended well beyond their present-day boundaries, completely covering all of the north shore, as we know it.
Fortunately, the waters receded allowing the communities of Tahoe City, Carnelian Bay, Kings Beach and Crystal Bay to flourish. And they are flourishing.
The north shore of Lake Tahoe offers visitors more than they can take in on a short visit. With 5 local ski areas, namely Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Diamond Peak and Homewood, offering world-class skiing (or something slightly less for those whose skills need honing) a 2 or 3 day winter’s stay just isn’t enough. Oh, and it’s almost unforgivable to miss the spectacular ice skating rink high above Squaw Valley.
Brief summer visits are disappointing as well. Who can choose between a day at the beach, playing in Lake Tahoe’s pristine waters, – or a rafting trip down the swift running Truckee River, – or renting a boat to explore Tahoe’s shoreline, – or parasailing high above the waters, – or just driving the 72 stunningly beautiful curving miles all around the Lake?
Summer or winter, Christmas or Fourth of July, anytime is Tahoe time. Don’t miss it. It’s waiting for you.
